VDB Statement of Faith

STATEMENT OF FAITH

1. God's Word:  We believe that the Bible is the inerrant word of God. The Bible was written by men by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the author, salvation and edification is the purpose and it is without error.
2. God The Father:  We believe that there is only one true God, the Creator of the heavens and earth. Through Him all things are made and exist. There is none that is above Him. God is omnipotent, omnipresent, and all knowing. The great I AM.
3. Jesus Christ:   We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God through the birth of a virgin. Jesus is 100% man and 100% God. Jesus is the only way to Heaven, there is no other way to the Father except through Jesus.
4. The Holy Spirit:    We believe in the personality and Deity of the Holy Spirit who illuminates the Word of God for our understanding of truth and guides the believer daily.
5. The Resurrection:   We belive in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and that He was literally raised on the third day and ascended to Heaven and sits on the right hand of God. We are waiting for the soon return of Christ to take His church home.
6. Salvation:    We believe that salvation is by grace, through faith. We receive salvation through the shed blood of Jesus who hung on a wooden cross for our sins. We can only receive salvation by accepting His sacrifice and declaring Him Lord.
7. The Church:    We believe that the church of Jesus Christ is the body of born again believers who observe Christ as the Head. We believe that the body is all believers come together in one accord to live the example that was given to us by the life of Christ on earth.
8. Separation:    We believe all believers are called into a life of separation from the world to set forth the example of holiness of character of God, that the world would see something different in us.
9. Second Coming:   We believe that Jesus is literally coming back to take His church home to Heaven to live in the presence of God. He will come back in all glory, both physically and spiritually.
10. Satan:   We believe in the reality of Satan and his demonic kingdom, who attempts to lead people away from God. Satan perverts God's Word, and works to bring division to Christ church.
11. Hell: We believe that Hell is a real place and that those that Satan has lead away from God's grace, will spend eternity separated from God under his control.
12. Community of Faith: As a community of faith and life we transend boundries of nationality, race, class, gender and language. We seek to live in the world without conforming to the powers of evil, witnessing to God's grace by serving others, caring for creation, and inviting all people to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
13. Communion: We gather regularly to worship, to celebrate the Lord's supper, and to hear the Word of God in spirit of mutual accountablity.
14. Peace: The Spirit of Jesus empowers us to trust God in all areas of our life so we become peacemakers who renounce violence, love our enemies, seek justice, and share our possessions with those in need.
